Goodbye and Hello

Saying goodbye is hard, its different for everyone, for me, saying goodbye is very difficult, especially now when im in this state that i don't really realise how far away and how long i acually will be away, everything is just so unreal. After saying our goodbyes in a dull, very rainy and cloudy Sweden i orientated around the airport trying to find my gate to my delayed plane and bought something to drink, there i sat waiting and waiting until finally we got to enter. This plane is huge, biggest one ive ever been on (but then again, i havent traveled that much), to try make you understand, the plane has three rows, first row is 2 seats, middle row is 3 seats and then the row im on which has 2 seats, pretty impressive, i feel like in a movie.
As the plane went further up, the clouds parted and a beautiful sun came out (oh how i've missed you sun) just seeing the sun puts a grin to my face! Just got a huge sandwitch and a glass of water, could only eat half of that, jesus christ it was half a decimeter thick!!
The plane ride to london was quite fast, with a bit turbulence and beautiful seeings, the city from above during nightime with all the city lights was such an impressive view. After landing i had to rush to my connected flight, sweaty, hungry and having a headache, but i managed, and little did i know i would get food on the plane (quite late though, around 23-24) but i didn't mind ;) Watched Mockingjay on my personal entertainer, drank loooots of sprite (i was a bit dehydrated i felt so i just drank supermuch soda which helped and made me hyper so i couldn't sleep which wasn't good). This plane was even bigger than the first, one row of 3 seats, middle row 4 seats, last row 3 seats! I was super tired but was hard at first to sleep, but i got myself around 6h of sleep(woke up several times though) which was highly uncomfortable, but i found my ways to make it a little bit comfy at least, even though i must have looked quite weird. Now i just got some breakfast aswell and it's around 1 hour until we land now, looking out the window doesn't show much, its quite cloudy so it doesn't feel like im in Africa. When landed in Johannesburg, i sweated like a pig, the pilot said it's 40c!! Can i believe him on that? A bit cloudy and so humid at the airport, but when i sat down for a while and had something to drink the heat got better! It was a big confusing at the airport but i found my way after asking around, some people were a bit off and others quite nice and asked me things like where i was traveling from and how old i was, they were very shocked i was so young and traveling alone so far away to a whole new country, well i can't even believe im doing this myself haha. The plane to Vic Falls is delayed about 45min, there are aloooot of shops here, more than i expected, with lots of African stuff but im just too exhausted to walk around now, i guess i will get my opportunity later to get some souvenirs, after all im gonna be here two months! ;) A really cute dog came sniffing me for bombs and drugs, he didn't find anything tho! When finally the wait was over we got to enter the plane, first they didn't wanna let me in cause i don't have a VISA (which im gonna get in Zimbabwe and i was just passing through and didn't leav the Johannesburg airport), but after a talk they let me through *peeew*. Quite a small plane this one, i fell asleep instantly, sooo tired! A French lady sits next to me, shes not too good at English but we find ways to talk where 75% is french words i have noooo idea about, so hilarious and kind! The view is still cloudy but sunny, so not seeing too much! All i want is to go sleep somewhere, in my bed mostly hehe ;) When finally at Victoria Falls it started poooouring down, and we had to walk out from the airplane and walk to the airport, i was soaking wet, but it was warm outside so it was nice, 27c to be exact! When the plane landed, there was cattle litterary standing around the track with NO FENCE, all casually, didn't even move their head when the huge plane just passed them by. Everyone had to get their VISA and the line was insanely long and took such a long time, i was already worried that i was already an hour late with the plane! I got my passport and now to the moment, the moment of seeing if my bag had made the journey, i was so scared my luggage would get lost all the way from Sweden to Victoria Falls. But there it was, i have never been so happy to see that ugly cow-bag, it looked a bit beated up and was soaking wet but who cares ;) A happy warm sweaty and wet me, walked out to the arrivals hall where an excited woman was standing smiling and yelling my name and waving a sign, her name is Alanna, and by her side the driver, they were both from the project! They had been so kind to wait for me with 3 other volunteers who had arrived earlier, i felt a bit bad when they said they had waited 3 hours...ooops. Nevertheless, we packed out bags in a their van, and sat down inside, got a bottle of water and then we were on our way! There was litterary no cars on the road, we maybe passed a few but not much. Cows and people walked alongside the road, signs of "beware of elephants crossing" passed us, just passing that by made a huge impression and we all sat there in cultural shock basically. When we got further into our town we passed a neighboorhood. Since it had been raining alot there was a bit flooded at some places, people walked around, small children played in the mud, people doing laundry and walking with so many kids on their arms/backs, houses flooded and animals everywhere. While at our hostel, there was huge fences around with bobwire and guards patrolling - pretty secure if you ask me. We were shown our rooms, im sharing with a girl called Ida who's been here a week already and shes also from Sweden, i will meet her later when she gets back from the project. The room is really nice, fresh, we have our own toilet and shower and anything you can wish for basically! I packed up some things from my bags and changed clothes and made myself fresh basically from traveling over 24h. After a tour and an introduction, the other volunteers and staff came back so we greeted them and then had dinner together, chilled and talked! Today has been sooo intense and theres so much flying around in my head, so much information and new impressions! I still can't believe im acually here and are so excited for whats to come :)
